Wes Wirkkala was raised in the Pacific Northwest, where he received hands-on training in craftsmanship from his father, a master builder. He later relocated to Los Angeles to pursue opportunities in the music industry, supporting himself through his exceptional skills in fine woodworking.

In Southern California, Wes joined a premier residential custom home builder specializing in high-end properties for prominent entertainment figures and executives in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu, and surrounding areas. During this time, he had the privilege of contributing to the homes of notable individuals, including Julia Roberts, Tony Danza, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Annie Potts, and others.

In 1999, leveraging his California General Contractor's license, Wes founded Wirkkala Woodworks, a company dedicated to meticulous craftsmanship. Specializing in fine custom woodworking—including kitchens, bathrooms, libraries, & millwork, plus comprehensive oversight of residential remodels. Over the years, Wes expanded his portfolio to include the purchase, renovation, and ground-up redevelopment of several private residences.

In 2015, Wes was recruited to Williamsburg, Virginia, to contribute his expertise to the historic renovation of Carter's Grove Plantation, a nationally significant Georgian architectural landmark.
